Persistence of Vision

What is the Persistence of Vision?
The Persistence of Vision is commonly known as a theory which connotes the human eye always retains an image for a fraction of a second, usually around 0.04 seconds. It is for our ability to perceive a sequence of fames in a continuous moving picture. When we see this our brain is assuming that we are seeing movement within two static images shown quickly.
